Lloyd Allen Terrell, age 86, passed away on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020 in Waelder. He was born to Alvin Bradford Terrell and Nora Desma (Harbuck) Terrell on May 29, 1934 in Three Rivers. Lloyd loved the Lord and made a profession of faith early in life.

Like a lot of young men, Lloyd attended school as long as he could and then he decided he would be more help to his dad on the farm than sitting in a classroom. He worked as a truck driver for Herder Truck Lines and Scurlock Oil before retiring. That’s when the real work began. He never sat still. From ranching to baling hay, and working black Angus cattle, he enjoyed being outside. It wasn’t long until he found he really liked working with a bulldozer, clearing brush, digging tanks and helping his neighbors improve their land. It was like he found his calling. It was not easy work but he poured his all into building a business that not only served the local area but he became well respected for the quality of service he provided to his clients in a number of surrounding counties. Even when he had long since sold his bulldozer, he would say how much he missed it.

In his free time, he enjoyed a good game of dominos, hunting, fishing, baseball and firing up the barbecue grill. He was never too busy to stop, lend a hand or generously give you whatever he had if it would make your life easier. He often offered advice or shared experiences with young men who needed someone with a little experience to help them on their path. His hobbies included watching purple martins, hummingbirds and the barn swallows that visited yearly.

His true passion was sitting on the front porch with family and friends, looking out past the oak trees, over the place he called home watching the sunset. He loved sharing time, memories and laughter with the people he loved and cared about. His house was always open and welcoming. “He was our Daddy, Grandpa, Uncle and friend who will be greatly missed,” his family writes.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Nora Terrell; sister, Lorene Krejci; brothers, Norman Terrell and Roy Terrell; grandchild, Corey Terrell; and his much beloved four-legged companion “Stinky.”

Lloyd is survived by daughters, Karen Kulow and husband Daryl of Cat Spring, Debra Bradford and husband Wade of Cypress, and Tammy Cook of Macclesfield, N.C.; sons, Bruce Terrell of Weimar, Bryant Terrell of Rosanky, and Toby Terrell of Portsmouth, Va.; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and greatnephews.
