Vivian Alana Brauner Wyatt passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at the age of 75, after an 8-year battle with dementia. She received care from Parkview Manor Nursing Home over the last 1½ years as well as Hospice South Texas.

She was born on Sept. 13, 1948, in Schulenburg to parents, Royce and Lois (Vacek) Brauner.

Services were held at St. Rose Catholic Church, Schulenburg, on Tuesday, March 12. Family received visitors from 9 to 10 a.m., followed by the rosary led by her sisters Lillian Florus and Lynne Machac, and Mass officiated by Rev. Jasper Liggio.

A native of Schulenburg, she attended elementary at St. Rose, middle school in San Diego, Texas, and high school in Schulenburg where she graduated in 1966 from SHS. While in high school, she enjoyed the arts programs, being a member of the SHS marching band, the stage band, and performed in One-Act Play competitions. Alana was an accomplished trombone player in the band and had excellent piano skills. A highlight for Alana was performing with the SHS Stage Band on American Band Stand and playing the part of a happy, helpless elephant in her adult years in the Backstage performance “It’s a Dungaree World.”

Being highly intelligent, she trained herself to be a legal secretary and worked for Dan Taber Law Office for 40 years, serving many Fayette County residents with real estate needs. Alana also was an entrepreneur when she and her husband Dave purchased the Schulenburg Liquor Store. While Dave worked the store daily, Alana was the brains behind the scenes – she would work in the evenings and weekends so that the paperwork would be properly completed.

Alana led a simplistic lifestyle. She loved reading, crocheting, classic country music, and the beauty of nature. She was an excellent cook and had a strong love for her many family dogs. She and Dave enjoyed spending time at their ranch in Rock Springs, fishing at the coast, and especially spending time with family and friends watching the Dallas Cowboy football games and the Texas Longhorns and Texas Aggies – with a split room of family rooting for different teams. She loved playing board games, Yahtzee and especially being around the children and taking exceptional care of each one.

She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, she served the City of Schulenburg as Election Judge for many years and on the Board of Directors for the High Hill Cemetery. Alana also served as president on the Schulenburg Economic Development Corporation and served on the Board of Adjustments.

Alana is survived by her son, Robert T. Moody IV and his wife Debby; step-daughter, Kelly Wyatt McLaughlin; step-son, Brad Wyatt and his wife Teresa; step-son, Don Wyatt; grandchildren, Bailey Dee Moody, Thomas Moody, Bailey McLaughlin, Boone McLaughlin and wife Miah, Dominic Wyatt, Coleman Wyatt, Audie Wyatt, Josie Wyatt, Cody Wyatt, Lindy Wyatt Glenn and Mandy Wyatt Hartley; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lillian Florus and husband David, and Lynne Machac and husband David; and two nephews and five nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband M. David Wyatt, step-son Mike Wyatt and her parents.

Providing music for the service were Byron Wren, Dennis Stryk, Joe Dybala, Jackie Machac and David Machac. Great-nephew Brandt Kahanek was altar server. Readings were by step-daughter Kelly McLaughlin and niece Brianna Janecka, and the gifts were presented by grandchildren Bailey Dee Moody, Thomas Moody, Bailey McLaughlin and Boone McLaughlin.

Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Her family writes: “Although Alana is now gone from our sight, we have faith in her being whole again, and joining her loved ones in heaven with Jesus and watching over all her family and friends.”
