Good Friday Holiday
Many local businesses will be closed or will close early in observance of Good Friday, March 29.
Community Good Friday Service
The Schulenburg Ministerial Alliance community Good Friday service will be held at First Methodist Church, 209 North Upton Ave., on March 29 at noon. Pastor Lemae Higgs of United Evangelical Lutheran Church at Swiss Alp will preach. A light meal will follow. A freewill offering to support the work of the Ministerial Alliance will be taken.
Easter Sunrise Service at Freyburg Methodist Church
Freyburg Methodist Church will hold an Easter sunrise service on Sunday, March 31 at 7:30 a.m., with brunch afterward in the Fellowship Haus. For more information, contact Junette at 979-743-0623.
First Baptist Church Easter Services
An Easter sunrise service will be held at 7 a.m. on Sunday, March 31 at First Baptist Church of Schulenburg. Sunday School will start at 9:30 a.m., followed by a 10:45 a.m. Easter worship service with special music. An Easter egg hunt for children from nursery through fifth grade will be held immediately after the 10:45 a.m. service.

Moulton Catholic Church Easter Picnic
The Moulton Catholic Church will hold an Easter picnic on Sunday, March 31 at the St. Joseph’s Social Center. Mass will be at 10 a.m. followed by an Easter egg hunt. A fried chicken dinner for $14 per plate will be served starting at 10:30 a.m. (dine-in, drive-thru plates-to-go and fried chicken-to-go will be available).
Music will be by Ken Brothers (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and Fender Bender Band (1:30 to 6 p.m.). A live auction will start at 1 p.m. There will also be cake/plant walks, country store, hamburgers, refreshments, etc. For more information, call 361-596-4674 or visit www.stjosephsmoulton.org.
Schulenburg Sausagefest
The ninth annual Schulenburg Sausagefest will be held on Saturday, April 6 in downtown Schulenburg from 11:15 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Live music will feature the Czechaholics, Mark Halata & Texavia, Darrel Appelt and headliner Broken Alibi. Homemade wine, sauerkraut and pickle judging will be held. There will also be a hog-calling contest, sausage-toss contest, arts/crafts vendors, grand march, children’s activities, fun run, American Legion black bean motorcycle ride, biergarten and food.

American Legion Fried Chicken & Sausage Dinner
American Legion McBride Post 143 will serve a drive-thru-only fried chicken and sausage dinner on Wednesday, April 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Legion Home in Wolters Park. The plates will include Oakridge fried chicken, sausage, buttered potatoes and green beans with bacon.Tickets ($13 each) are available at Schulenburg Printing, Schulenburg Sticker, Grahmann’s True Value, Crystal Threads or from any Legion member. Only a limited number of tickets will be available at the drive-thru. The Auxiliary will have bake sale items available for purchase.
