Wino-O Bingo hosted by Chamber of Commerce
The Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce will host Wine-O Bingo on Thursday, Feb. 19 at Svetlik Farm, 2616 FM 2672. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. and bingo will sart at 6:30 p.m. A person must be 21 to attend Individual tickets are $25 and a reserved table of eight is $175. A table decorating contest will be held. Only 250 tickets will be sold. Tickets are available at the Chamber office 618 North Main St., phone 979-743-4514.
Fabulous prizes will be given. Food will be available for purchase and the event is BYOB coolers and snacks.
St. James Missionary Baptist Church Fish Fry
St. James MBC will hold a building fundraiser fish fry on Friday, Feb. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with pickup at St. James MBC, 1103 James Ave. The $12 plates will include fried fish, two sides and dessert. To reserve plates, contact Rev. Andrew Stafford at 979-997-1207 or 210-475-1992.
Restitution Revival United Services
Everyone is invited to come and worship with Restitution Revival United on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 702 Hillje St. in Schulenburg. All services will start at noon. For more information, call 254-717-7756.
KCs Barbecue Pork Steak Dinner and Blood Drive
The Schulenburg Knights of Columbus will serve a drive-thru-only barbecue pork steak dinner on Sunday, Feb. 22 at the Schulenburg Hall starting at 10:30 a.m. or when food is ready. The $15 plates will include barbecue pork steak, vegetable rice, steamed broccoli, sweet corn and pickle. Reservations are not necessary.
In addition, the South Texas Blood & Tissue mobile unit will have a blood drive on Sunday, Feb. 22 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the hall parking lot. Each donor will receive a free meal provided by the KCs and a free long-sleeve T-shirt. Blood drive coordinator is Ed Kusy (kesyej@yahoo.com).
At the January blood drive, there were 26 blood donors (150 percent of the expected number, with 18 being considered a good turnout).
Colorado Valley Quilt Guild ‘Best Little Quilt Show in Texas’
The Colorado Valley Quilt Guild will host the 28th annual “Best Little Quilt Show in Texas” at the LC Grange KC Hall, 190 South Brown St., La Grange, on Friday, Feb. 27 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m and Saturday, Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission will be $10, with 12 & under admitted free.
The show will include over 150 traditional, contemporary and art quilts. In addition, there will be vendors, scissor sharpening, quilt drawing, basket drawing, and free books and magazines. For more information, visit www.ColoradoValleyqg.com.
Ammannsville KJT Building Fund Benefit Dinner
A barbecue chicken dinner benefitting the Ammannsville KJT building fund will be held on Sunday, March 1 starting at 11 a.m. at the Ammannsville KJT Hall. The drive-thru-only plates will have half a barbecue chicken, potatoes & pinto beans and cost $15 each. There will be no advance sales and plates will be sold first-come, first-served.
Lions Club Nontraditional Student Scholarship
The Schulenburg Lions Club is offering one or more $2,000 nontraditional student scholarships. The scholarship can be used for secondary education, going back to school, graduate studies, work certifications, technical school, nursing programs, etc. Applicants must live in Schulenburg or work in Schulenburg and live in the surrounding area. Applications are available by calling the Chamber of Commerce at 979-743-4514 or at the Schulenburg Public Library. Applications must be submitted to the Chamber office by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18.
