The Fayette County Commissioners Court approved extending the lease agreement with the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter for an additional 25 years at its meeting on Thursday, Oct. 27.
Currently, the animal shelter is halfway through a 50-year lease. County Judge Joe Weber explained that the animal shelter owns the building in which it is located while the land is owned by the County.
