Fayette County surpasses 700 mark on drought index

The Keetch-Byram Drought Index for the Fayette County reached 719 within the past week, Emergency Management Coordinator Craig Moreau noted in a press release on July 25.

KBDI values from 600-800 are often associated with severe drought. At the maximum of 800, it takes eight inches of precipitation to fully saturate the soil.
