Library open to public Tuesday thru Friday

The Schulenburg Public Library will expand limited hours of operation. The library will be open for the public to come into the facility on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays beginning Friday, April 16.

However, for the protection of library visitors and staff, these protocols will be followed:

•Face masks are required for all patrons entering the building.

•Hands need to be sanitized upon entering.

•The library staff will at 5 p.m. each day disinfect books and the entrance.

•To stay within social distancing guidelines, occupancy will be limited to 10 patrons. When the library has reached its capacity, a “do not enter” sign will be placed on the door.

•No unaccompanied children under the age of 15 will be admitted.

•A minimum 6-foot social distancing rule must be observed.

•Four computers will be available for patron use, limited to one hour, but more time can be added when requested.

•Curbside service will be only on Mondays. Staff will do their best to disinfect items touched.

•The children’s room is still temporarily closed, but a librarian will retrieve books for children from the children’s room.

•The DVD section is open and the library requests that all DVD cases touched by patrons be placed in a basket for disinfection.

•Patrons must wait until the counter is disinfected and after each checkout an additional 30 seconds for the disinfectant to dry.

•The library is receiving and sending faxes.

•The copy machine will be available to make copies. Patrons must make copies themselves and bring exact change. Patrons must wait until the copy machine is disinfected before the next user is allowed to proceed.

•E-books and computer database access online will also continue.

•Wi-fi is available in the library parking lot 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
