Carolyn Caflisch, member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Smith McMillan Chapter, was instrumental in researching John Sorrell.
The marker honoring Pvt. John Sorrell, a Revolutionary War veteran, erected on the northeast corner of the Courthouse square in La Grange. He succumbed to the yellow fever epidemic in 1841 and was laid to rest in an unmarked grave in Fayette County. His precise resting place was lost to time but his service was never forgotten.

Announced as the top three winners of the Window Decorating Contest were: 1st Place – E&S Fashion Shop of Schulenburg, represented by Esther Toro (left); 2nd Place – Round Top Real Estate; and 3rd Place – La Grange Chevron, represented by Calvin Mersiovsky (center) and his granddaughter, Scarlett Landry (right).
