Fayette County Emergency Management Chief Craig Moreau reported that 656 individuals took advantage of last week’s COVID-19 testing at the Fairgrounds in La Grange.
Overall, the positivity rate was extremely low at 2.74 percent, a fraction of the current state average. Only 18 were positive with 95.88 percent negative and nine advised to re-test due to poor samples. The age range was from infant to 80-plus.
“The turnout and the final results were much better than expected,” Moreau said. “Many residents received their results in 36 hours or less. One particularly positive note is that our assisted living centers were tested on Thursday, if the individual staff and residents chose to participate), and there were zero positive cases for the entire day.
“My family of five, including a toddler, was tested and we all received our negative results in rapid fashion,” he said.
The breakdown of those tested by ZIP code was: 78945 (La Grange), 47.87%; 78956 (Schulenburg), 14.18%; 78940 (Fayetteville), 7.01%; 78954 (Round Top), 4.12%; 78941 (Flatonia), 3.51%; 78962 (Weimar), 3.35%; 78963 (West Point), 3.35%; other, 16.62%.
