The Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department responded to a call that a mower had caught on fire at 1:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8 on Kainer Road southwest of town. SVFD Chief Darren Guentert said about two acres burned before firefighters got it contained in about 20 minutes.

Burglar caught in residence

In the early morning hours of Friday, Oct. 6, the Schulenburg Police Department was called to a burglary in progress in the 400 block of East Anderson Street. Officers responded at approximately 1:10 a.m. and, upon arrival, found a subject in a bedroom of the residence, according to the SPD report.
