Fayette County sees slight decrease in Dec. The Texas seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate declined for the first time in three months to 3.9 percent in December, logging the first month the rate fell below 4.0 percent since February 2020, according to the Texas Workforce Commission.

SVFD battles barn blaze at midday Friday

The Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department spent over two hours extinguishing a barn fire north of town on Friday, Jan. 13. Six fire trucks and 20 personnel responded to the call at 11:37 a.m. about two miles from the city limits off Highway 77.
