Alvin Erwin Mikush

Alvin Erwin Mikush, 67, of Weimar, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, at Regency Nursing Center in Schulenburg.

Alvin was born on Feb. 12, 1955, in Hallettsville, to Alvin and Linda (Holy) Mikush. He attended Hallettsville High School and married Arlene Haidusek Mikush on April 17, 1977, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar. Together in their union, they had one son, Chad. Alvin and Arlene made Weimar their home for 45 years. He worked at Utex for 42 years and was a member of the Vsetin Czech Moravian Brethren (C.M.B.) Church. Alvin enjoyed hunting, fishing, ranching, cooking, and loved the outdoors.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Linda Mikush; and grandparents, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Arlene; son, Chad Mikush and wife Anna of East Bernard; brother, Marvin Mikush and wife Rosemary of Victoria; and grandchildren, Avery, Bailey and Caiden.

Visitation was held Friday, April 1 at Vsetin C.M.B. Church with a prayer service led by Dr. Mark Labaj. The funeral service was held Saturday, April 2, at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Weimar, with Fr. Wayne Flagg officiating. Interment followed in St. Michael Cemetery. Pallbearers were Stephen Rhodes, Ian Rhodes, Adam Rhodes, Harvey Barton, Jason Barton, Jared Barton, Dan Motal, Glenn Michalcik and David Michalcik.

Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
