Tom Walker, whose 61-year career included 11 seasons at Schulenburg ISD, passed away on July 1 at the age of 88. He guided the Shorthorns to their first state championship in football, winning the Class 1A title in 1972.
Also during Walker’s tenure at SISD, the Horns reached the state football final in 1975 and claimed a state championship in boys’ track in 1975.
