Barbara Wick, age 84, passed away peacefully on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022.
On Nov. 16, 1937, Barbara, and her twin sister, Patricia, were born to Thomas and Irene (Welch) O’Dell in Hughes Springs, Texas. She graduated from Marshall High School in Marshall, Texas in 1956 and moved to San Antonio where she graduated from the Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing as an R.N. For the next 42 years she was employed by several local hospitals in various positions. She met and married Eugene Wick in 1958. During their 64 years of marriage, she became the mother of three children and grandmother of seven grandchildren. She loved to travel, read books, solve puzzles, relax and watch the dolphins and the beautiful sunsets across the bay from their second home in Rockport, Texas.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Irene O’Dell; brother, Harold O’Dell and wife Jean; sister, Perletta Enterkin; twin sister, Patricia Taylor and husband Everett; son-in-law, David Flaharty; and niece, Cynthia Enterkin.
She is survived by her husband, Eugene; daughter, Lynne Newman and husband Terry; son, David Wick and wife Elizabeth; granddaughter, Jennifer Schoonover and husband Edward J.; grandson, Christopher; son, Philip Wick and wife Erica; grandchildren, Emily, Caitlin, Kieran, Rhiannon, Sawyer; brother, Tim O’Dell; brother-in-law, Charles Enterkin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were at Mission Park Funeral Chapels Cherry Ridge and interment at Holy Cross Cemetery in San Antonio.
