SISD band travels to Washington, D.C. for Memorial Day Parade
The Schulenburg ISD band marches along Constitution Avenue in Washinfton, D.C. during the annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 29 as an “Official Representative of Texas.”
SISD Director of Bands Justin Bartlett; Yahaira Guerrero, junior, who played TAPS on trumpet to conclude the ceremony; Teagan Faith, Priscila Lara and Elvia Lara, senior band members who placed the wreath; and Assistant Band Director Fabian Weirich.
Robert Armen Herzik, American Legion Post 143 member who also made the trip to Washington, D.C.

The Schulenburg ISD band performed in the 2023 National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C. on Monday, May 29 as an “Official Representative of Texas.” The mile-long parade route ran along Constitution Avenue.
Helping make this trip possible was the hard work and support of Schulenburg American Legion Post 143.
“Our students had the performance opportunity of a lifetime, marching down Constitution Avenue,” SISD band director Justin Bartlett said.
