Turtle Wing sets training sessions July 11, July 19

Turtle Wing Foundation is offering two upcoming opportunities for educators, daycare staff, and parents/guardians in the area.

Those interested are asked to make sure to reserve a spot before they fill up. The sessions are as follows:

•Parent training for children with special needs: “Partnering with Your Child’s Education Team Step by Step.” The best outcomes for children with disabilities derive from a strong partnership between parents and school professionals. This training will explore the following: practical steps to build a positive partnership between parents and schools, how to create an introduction portfolio for a child, and important back-to-school checklists. The training is provided by Brenda L. Nelson, M.S. with Nelson Educational Consulting. Nelson has over 20 years of experience with the special education process. She is an ARD facilitator and parent of an adult son on the autism spectrum. She has a passion for helping others who share the journey of caring for a child with a learning challenge or disability. The training will be held Tuesday, July 11 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Weimar. Light refreshments will be served. This training is free due to being underwritten by Turtle Wing Foundation. To RSVP, email Kim at kimmiori@turtlewingfoundation.org or call 979-505-5090.
