Eileen Marie (Raabe) Berckenhoff

Eileen Marie (Raabe) Berckenhoff, 78, passed away at Schulenburg Regency on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023 at 10:45 p.m.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Fr. Luke Prihoda officiating and interment in the Salem Memorial Cemetery at Freyburg. Pallbearers were Harvey Berckenhoff, David Berckenhoff, Paul Zapalac, Henry Zapalac Jr. and Erik Kalich, all nephews from Schulenburg, andJames Narendorf, nephew from San Antonio. Named as honorary pallbearers were grandchildren Mason Florus, Brayson Florus, Cole Wenske and Tayt Wenske of Schulenburg, and Garrison Koehn and Kennedy Koehn of Weimar.

Rosary was recited on Monday, Aug. 28 at 9:30 a.m. at the church, led by Cynthia Kosler, Catholic Daughters regent.

Born on Nov. 10, 1944 at Moulton, she was the daughter of Walter Raabe Sr. and Elda (Bauer) Raabe. She attended Moulton High School. On Nov. 26, 1965, she married George Berckenhoff at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton. She worked as a fabricator at Kemlon and manager at Bill’s Dollar Store. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Rose.

Survivors include her husband, George Berckenhoff; two daughters, Ann Florus and husband Darren of Schulenburg, and Dawn Wenske and husband Brad of Schulenburg; a son-in-law, Rory Koehn of Weimar; two sisters, Janet Koncaba of Moulton and Betty Zapalac of Schulenburg; three brothers, Jerome Raabe Sr. and wife Charlene of Moulton, Walter Raabe Jr. and wife Jeanette of Flatonia, and Danny Raabe and wife Anne of Moulton; and six grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a daughter, Patricia Koehn; a grandson, Ethan Koehn; and two sisters, Shirley Schoenweitz and Martha Koncaba Zapalac.

Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
