The Weimar KCs will serve a drive-thru-only chicken fried steak dinner with sides on Sunday, Sept. 24 at the St. Michael Catholic Church Family Center in Weimar from 10 a.m. until sold out. Cost is $12 per plate.
‘Dress the Town’ for Shorthorn Homecoming
A “Dress the Town” contest is being held in conjunction with Shorthorn homecoming week, Sept. 25-29. Residents and businesses are invited to show their school spirit by decorating the exterior of their home or business for a chance to win a VIP experience for homecoming 2023. Deadline to enter is Tuesday, Sept. 26 and judging will be Thursday, Sept. 28. The homecoming game is Friday, Sept. 29. Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish Festival, Hostyn
Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish, Hostyn, will hold its festival at the church grounds on Sunday, Oct. 1, celebrating the 192nd anniversary of the first Mass at Hostyn. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. outdoors under a tent. A fried chicken/sausage meal with trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a drive-thru line from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Plates will be $14 each.
The auction will begin at 1 p.m.There will be a country store, cake/plant wheels, silent auction, games, bingo at 1:30 p.m., magic show at 3 p.m. hamburgers, etc. Music will be provided by Czech Melody Masters (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and Dujka Brothers (3:30 to 7:30 p.m.). Schulenburg VFD Auxiliary Hamburger Steak Dinner The SchulenburgVolunteer Fire Department Auxiliary will serve a takehome- only hamburger steak dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 4 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the KC Hall. The plates ($12 each) will include hamburger steak with brown gravy, mashed potatoes, peas and carrots, corn casserole, roll and cookie.
