Lady Horns start district play with pair of sweeps

The defending district champions started 27-2A play with 3-0 sweeps of Ganado and Flatonia last week. After those wins, the Lady Horns improved to 22-12 on the season.
Three Schulenburg players totaled over 20 kills in the two matches. Emmrie Marx led the way with 22 and Meredith Magliolo followed with 21 while also having a hand in six blocks. In the absence of Jessalyn Gipson against Flatonia at SHS Gym on Saturday, Reagan Dusek stepped up with 15 kills on Saturday to total 21 last week.
Avery Helms served nine aces in the two victories, including eight at Ganado last Tuesday, while also picking up 16 digs. Kieryn Adams paced the Lady Horns in digs with 45. Landry Zapalac followed with 18 to go along with setting for 67 assists.
