Christ came to bring you peace

Seven hundred years before the first Christmas, Isaiah the prophet wrote, “A child has been born for us and God has given us a Son and he will be called the Prince of Peace.” He was speaking of Jesus’ birth before it happened. At the first Christmas, angels appeared to shepherds and said, “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace and good will toward men.” There’s that word “peace” again.

And when Jesus returned to Heaven after his resurrection, he said, “I am giving you the gift of peace, the kind of peace that only I can give.” There is an inner peace we can have that comes from above and beyond. We cannot get it in a pill, injection, bottle or self-improvement book.

In this world, peace at best is fragile and does not last. Almost all peace treaties and cease fires in world history have been broken. So how can we experience this unbreakable peace that Jesus gives? We must humble ourselves and admit our need for Jesus Christ, expecting we will receive His help. God is opposed to the proud but gives grace to the humble.
