John C. Landa Jr., “The Schulenbirder,” sent these two photos on Friday, Dec. 29:
•PHOTO #1 – Meadowlark, seen at his property near Schulenburg.“I believe this is a Western Meadowlark, though the appearance is very similar to the Eastern Meadowlark, and both are fairly common here in winter,” Landa said.
•PHOTO #2 – Pine warbler, in his back yard in Houston. This bird is also seen in Schulenburg, particularly during the winter months. It’s song is distinctive, described as a “musical trill.”
