Children’s Soccer League

FBC in the ‘Burg will host a children’s soccer league, with registration set for Saturday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Schulenburg, 110 North Upton. Games will be played Tuesdays in October at 6 p.m. beginning Oct. 1.The league is open to youth ages 5-10. Boys & girls mixed teams will play. Happy Tails benefitting Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter 

The 2024 Happy Tails fundraiser benefitting the Gardenia E. Janssen Animal Shelter will be held at the Schulenburg KC Hall on Saturday, Sept. 28 from 6 to 10 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by Texas Unlimited Band. There will be dinner, dancing and silent/live auctions.

Restitution Revival United Special Service

Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish Festival, Hostyn

Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish, Hostyn, will hold its festival at the church grounds on Sunday, Oct. 6, celebrating the 193rd anniversary of the first Mass at Hostyn. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. outdoors under a tent. A fried chicken/sausage meal with trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a drive-thru line from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Plates will be $14 each.

The auction will begin at 1 p.m.There will be a country store, cake/plant wheels, silent auction, games, bingo at 1:30 p.m., magic show at 3 p.m., hamburgers, etc. Music will be provided by Czech Melody Masters (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and Dujka Brothers (3:30 to 7:30 p.m.). Sacred Heart Parish-Flatonia Turkey & Dressing Dinner 

Sacred Heart Parish in Flatonia will serve a turkey and dressing dinner on Sunday, Oct. 6 starting at 10:30 a.m. (dine-in, drive-thru or walk-up).

Plates will cost $15 each and will include turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, green beans and cranberry sauce. Serving inside the hall will continue until 1 p.m. Prior to the meal, Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.

Ironman Challenge

The seventh annual Ironman Challenge – which will include golf, bowling and cornhole – will be held Saturday, Oct. 12.

Golf at the Flatonia Golf Course will be 4-person teams playing in a 9-hole scramble. Bowling at Tenth Frame Bowling Alley will be 3-game total team score (8 pin, no taps). Cornhole will be at a single-elimination tournament at Adolf’s Bar. Team points will be awarded for placing in each event. Challenge winners will be awarded off total team points Team captains’ meeting will be held at 9:30 a.m. at the Flatonia Golf Course. Cost is $75 per person or $300 for a team of four. St. Rose Round Up

The St. Rose of Lima Catholic School Roundup will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12 from 8 p.m. to midnight at Swiss Alp Hall, featuring a dance by the Matt Bonner Band and an auction. Beer, wine and set-ups will be available. Tickets are $30 presale or $40 at the door; reserved seating is $50 presale or $60 at the door. For tickets, call 979-743-3080.
