James Anton Besetsny

James Anton Besetsny, 91, of Victoria, Texas entered eternal rest on September 19, 2024. He was born November 2, 1932 to the late Charles Besetsny and Ernestine Besetsny.

Family and friends gathered for visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Grace Funeral Home, 2401 Houston Hwy., in Victoria, Texas. The Holy Rosary was prayed at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church near Schulenburg, Texas. Burial immediately followed at St. John The Baptist Cemetery. Honoring James as pallbearers were Bill Novosad, Travis Novosad, Carson Janak, David Besetsny, Marcus Bujnoch and Duane Warnken.

James married Edith Kobza on May 27, 1956 in Schulenburg, Texas. He was a route salesman with Valley Gold for many years. Upon retirement, he then began working at the Windmill Country Store on FM 236 where he met a lot of his longtime friends who gathered there every morning for their coffee fix. James also had a hobby of raising cattle with his son-inlaw, Eddie Houseton, which was his passion. He will be deeply missed by everyone that knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Edith Besetsny; daughter, Carolyn Houseton; son-in-law, Eddie Houseton; son, Ronnie James; brothers, Clarence Besetsny, Alvin Besetsny; sister, Estella Valicek.

James is survived by his daughter, Theresa Novosad (Bill), sister, Jeanette Terrell; grandchildren, Travis Novosad (Kalli), Kayla Novosad (Jordan Zimmermann), Jennifer Houseton Janak (Carson); great-grandchildren, Saylor Novosad, Reagan Novosad, Jaxtyn Zimmermann, Breck Janak and Brynn Janak.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at New Century Hospice, Post Acute Wound Care, Excel Home Health and Riverside Oaks Nursing Home.
