Petra ‘Pat’ Christ

Petra “Pat” Christ, 80, of Schulenburg, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2024 She was born on June 29, 1944 to Estanislado and Rita Segura in Ammannsville. She married Roy Alton Christ on Aug.14, 1971 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and resided in Schulenburg. Pat worked for Roy Bucek several years at the old Dairy Mart on Highway 90 and then the Oakridge Smokehouse Processing plant, which was also on Highway 90. When Oakridge closed, she went to work for Double B for a brief time until she began working at Utex Industries in Weimar from which she eventually retired in 2016. Pat was a lifetime member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She was a member of St. Rose Altar Society, Catholic Daughters of America and Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Pat enjoyed her greenhouse and all type of plants. She enjoyed bowling, attending sporting events for any family members and was a devoted Houston Astros fan and Schulenburg Shorthorn.

Pat is survived by her brother, Frank Segura; sisters, Hope Vornsand, Rosa Galipp and Joyce Dittrich and husband Buddy; brother-in-law, Allen Christ and wife Doris of Shelby; sisters-in-law, Justina Segura and Lorine Christ; and numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and greatnephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Estanislado and Rita Segura; brothers, Henry Segura, Condido Segura, Felix Segura, Stanley Segura and Domingo Segura; sisters, Annie Riojas and Stella Morin; brothers-in-law, Manuel Riojas, Mike Morin, Carl Galipp, James Vornsand and Florence Christ; and sisters-in-law, Carolyn Segura and Rose Segura.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024 at 10 am at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg. Entombment was in the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery mausoleum. A rosary recited by Edward Kusy and the Catholic Daughters began at 9:30 a.m. Visitation began at 9 a.m. Services were under the care and direction of the Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home.
