Thanksgiving Holiday
Most local businesses will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 28. The City of Schulenburg and Fayette County offices will have holidays on both Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28-29.
The Sticker will also be closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28-29. Garbage pickup for the week is as follows: residential – north side, Nov. 26 (usual day), and south side, Nov. 27; commercial – Nov. 25 and 27 as usual, with pickup for select businesses on Friday, Nov. 29.
Lighted Christmas Parade and Santa’s Visit to Schulenburg
The Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce will host a lighted Christmas parade in downtown Schulenburg and visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus on Sunday, Dec. 1. The parade will start at 6 p.m. Santa and Mrs. Claus will then be available to hear Christmas wishes and give out goodie bags provided by Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 870. There will also be free hot dogs provided by the Chamber of Commerce board of directors and a performance by the St. Rose of Lima Catholic School band.
Weimar Knights of Columbus Chicken Fried Steak Dinner
Weimar KC Council 2153 will serve a chicken fried steak dinner on Sunday, Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. until sold out at the St. Michael Catholic Church Family Center inWeimar. Cost is $14 for the drive-thru-only plates.
St. Rose HSA Pigs-in-a-Blanket, Ham & Cheese Rolls, Cinnamon Rolls
The St. Rose School HSA is taking orders for fresh-baked pigs-in-ablanket, ham and cheese rolls, and cinnamon rolls. Cost is $25 per dozen and $15 for a half dozen. Christmas Decorating Contest
The Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce is seeking entries in its Christmas decorating contest, which is free to enter. Entries must have a Christmas theme and be within a five-mile radius of town. To register, contact the Chamber by Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 4 p.m. Judging will take place on Friday, Dec. 13 between 6 and 9 p.m. The Chamber office is locaated at 618 North Main St. and the phone number is 979-743-4514.
Schulenburg Shopping Days
The Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce is promoting “Schulenburg Shopping Days” from Friday, Nov. 29 thru Friday, Dec. 20. To participate, spend at least $20 at five stores and receive a “shopping card.” The shopping card should be turned in to the Chamber office to be entered in a drawing for cash prizes.
