Evelyn Rose (Klesel) Myler

Evelyn Rose (Klesel) Myler of Niederwald died peacefully in her home on Friday, Jan. 17, 2025 at noon after a long battle with respiratory illness.

Evelyn was born in Schulenburg on April 15, 1949 to Leon and Lydia Klesel. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Kathryn Klesel and brother Kenneth Klesel.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years Allan Myler of Neiderwald, two sons Travis Myler and wife Melissa, and Mitchell Myler and wife Amanda, as well as one step-son Zachariah Myler and wife Shannon, two grandchildren and three step grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Patsy and husband Donnie Kimes, sister Debbie and husband Rick Ulrich, and brother Donnie Klesel and wife Julia.

Evelyn graduated from Bishop Forest High School in 1967. Growing up in Schulenburg, she was active in Girl Scouts and 4-H. Using these rudimentary skills, Evelyn became an excellent Boy Scout leader when her children were in elementary school. She was creative and prided herself in making crafts out of household items. She enjoyed photography and nature with a particular interest in flowers and butterflies. Evelyn was an organizer and manager in her home as well as in her job and community activities.

Evelyn was a certified Special Education teacher and worked with special needs children in several capacities. She was a trainer for the Head Start program before working with the most severely disabled children, eventually ending her career in the Kyle Independent School District.

There will be a celebration of Evelyn’s life on Saturday, May 31 at Camp Ben McCulloch, 18301 FM 1826, Driftwood, TX 78619. Friends and relatives are cordially invited to share in the celebration. Barbecue, beer and wine will be provided.
