For the second straight year, Calvin Thompson qualified for the Texas High School PowerliftingAssociation Division 4 state meet.
The Shorthorn senior won the superheavyweight class at the THSPARegion 4 Division 4 competition, held in Navasota on Friday, March 7. He totaled 1,405 pounds – 610 squat, 365 bench press, and 430 dead lift. Daniel Frei of Milano placed distant second at 1,230 pounds.
