Thanksgiving Holiday
Most local businesses will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 27. The City of Schulenburg and Fayette County offices will have holidays on both Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27-28.
The Sticker will also be closed on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27-28. Residential garbage pickup for the week is as follows: north side of town on Tuesday, Nov. 25 (usual day); and south side of town on Wednesday, Nov. 26.
Letters-to-Santa Dropoff at Chamber Office
The Chamber of Commerce invites youngsters to drop off their letters to Santa in the mailbox on the Chamber office porch from Monday, Dec. 1 to Tuesday, Dec. 16. The Chamber will have Santa reply to the letters.
Weimar KCs Chicken Fried Steak Dinner
Weimar Knights of Columbus Council 2153 will hold a drive-thru-only chicken fried steak dinner on Sunday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. until sold out at the St. Michael Catholic Church Family Center in Weimar.
Cost is $15 each for the plates with hand-battered chicken fried steak, broccoli salad and twice-baked potatoes.
Lighted Christmas Parade and Santa’s Visit to Schulenburg
The Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce will host a lighted Christmas parade in downtown Schulenburg and visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus on Sunday, Dec. 7. The parade will start at 6 p.m., then Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available in the gazebo to hear Christmas wishes and give out goodie bags provided by Vietnam Veterans Chapter 870. There will also be free hot dogs provided by the Chamber board of directors.
St. Rose School HSA Pigs-in-the-Blanket and Cinnamon Rolls
The St. Rose School HSA is taking orders for pigs-in-the-blanket and cinnamon rolls. Cost is $25 per dozen and $15 for a half dozen.To order, call or text 979-743-4987 or 979-561-6815 or call the school at 979-743-3080.
They will be baked fresh on Thursday, Dec. 11 and Friday, Dec. 12, and must be picked up from St. Rose School by 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12.
Holiday Decorating Contest
The Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce is seeking entries in its holiday decorating contest. There will be residential and commercial divisions, and entries must be within a five-mile radius of town. Residential winners will get cash prizes. Judging will take place on Friday, Dec. 19 between 6 and 9 p.m. To enter, call the Chamber office at 979-743-4514.
Shop Local Days
The Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce is promoting “Shop Local Days” thru Friday, Dec. 19.
To participate, spend at least $20 at five stores and receive a “shopping card,” which should then be turned in to the Chamber office to be entered in a drawing for cash prizes. Senior Connections New Year’s Eve Fundraiser
Senior Connections will hold its 3rd annual New Year’s Eve fundraiser on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 7 p.m. at Freyburg Hall. There will be cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, whiskey wall, live auction, dinner, music by Broken Spoke Band, champagne toast and fireworks at midnight.
