Weimar KCs Chicken Fried Steak Dinner
Weimar Knights of Columbus Council 2153 will hold a drive-thru-only chicken fried steak dinner on Sunday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. until sold out at the St. Michael Catholic Church Family Center in Weimar.
Cost is $15 each for the plates with hand-battered chicken fried steak, broccoli salad and twice-baked potatoes.
Veterans Christmas Dinner
Bert & Bill’s Taxi will host a veterans Christmas dinner on Sunday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. at St. James Baptist Church fellowship hall, 1103 James Ave. Guest speaker will be Rev. Dr. P. Sattiewhite. There will be a $5 entry fee and dinner will be free for veterans only (includes two tickets for veterans only). RSVP should be made to Dr. Virginia Glass Berry at 804-605-2664.
Lighted Christmas Parade and Santa’s Visit to Schulenburg
The Schulenburg Chamber of Commerce will host a lighted Christmas parade in downtown Schulenburg and visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus on Sunday, Dec. 7. The parade will start at 6 p.m., then Santa and Mrs. Claus will be available in the gazebo to hear Christmas wishes.
Goody bags will be provided by Vietnam Veterans Chapter 870 and free hot dogs by the Chamber board of directors. There will also be a performance by the St. Rose of Lima Catholic School band.
Crossroads Christian Fellowship Meal for Families in Need
Crossroads Christian Fellowship will hold a “grab-and-go” meal for families in need, with voucher pick-up on Thursday, Dec. 11 and meal pick-up on Thursday, Dec. 18 from 6 to 7 p.m. at 2310 US Highway 90 about three miles west of Weimar. For pickup, the voucher must be brought and each individual needs to be present. There is a limit of four meals per household.
St. Rose School HSA Pigs-in-the-Blanket and Cinnamon Rolls
The St. Rose School HSA is taking orders for pigs-in-the-blanket and cinnamon rolls. Cost is $25 per dozen and $15 for a half dozen. To order, call or text 979-743-4987 or 979-561-6815 or call the school at 979-743-3080.
They will be baked fresh on Thursday, Dec. 11 and Friday, Dec. 12, and must be picked up from St. Rose School by 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12.
St. Rose School’s ‘Christmas Around the World’
“Christmas Around the World” benefitting St. Rose of Lima Catholic School will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13 at the Schulenburg Hall.
A children’s program will begin at 4:30 p.m., with a German auction starting 30 minutes after the program. A beef stew dinner (dine-in or take-out) will be served starting at 5:30 p.m. The International Food Court featuring foods from around the world will open at 5:30 p.m. There will also be a children’s carnival with inflatable playground, carnival games and cake walk. Christmas Dinner For Those Who Are Alone
The annual Christmas dinner for those who are alone will be held on Christmas Day, Thursday, Dec. 25, from 11 a.m. until noon at the Schulenburg Hall, 405 South St.
Plates will be served at the hall or the homebound can call Sheila Brossmann at 979-743-3576. RSVP is required by Saturday, Dec. 20. There will be a limit of two plates per family. The meal is sponsored by the Schulenburg Lions Club and Schulenburg Knights of Columbus.
Senior Connections New Year’s Eve Fundraiser
Senior Connections will hold its 3rd annual New Year’s Eve fundraiser on Wednesday, Dec. 31 at 7 p.m. at Freyburg Hall. There will be cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, whiskey wall, live auction, dinner, music by Broken Spoke Band, champagne toast and fireworks at midnight.
