Schulenburg Volunteer Fire Department Stew Supper
The Schulenburg VFD will serve a boneless beef stew supper on Thursday, Feb. 5 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the KC Hall. Cost is $15 each for the drive-thru-only plates. Deadline to buy tickets was Monday, Feb. 2, and only a limited amount of tickets will be sold at the hall.
St. James Missionary Baptist Church Fish Fry
St. James MBC will hold a building fundraiser fish fry on Friday, Feb. 6 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with pickup at St. James MBC, 1103 James Ave. The $12 plates will include fried fish, two sides and dessert. To reserve plates, contact Rev. Andrew Stafford at 979-997-1207 or 210-475-1992.

‘Rhasody of Freedom’ commissioned by Smith-McMillan DAR
As part of Fayette County’s observance of America’s 250th birthday, the Smith-McMillan Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, commissioned a play written by Mary Margaret Mann to be performed by the La Grange High School Drama Club.
The play,“Rhapsody of Freedom,”will be performed Thursday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. at the La Grange ISD Performing Arts Center, 656 East Travis St., La Grange. The play focuses on the bond between American patriots Gen. George Washington and the Marquis de Lafayette. Tickets to the play are $20 each and can be obtained by scanning the QR code in the ad on the back page.
