Lions Club Nontraditional Student Scholarship

The Schulenburg Lions Club is offering one or more $2,000 nontraditional student scholarships. The scholarship can be used for secondary education, going back to school, graduate studies, work certifications, technical school, nursing programs, etc. Applicants must live in Schulenburg or work in Schulenburg and live in the surrounding area. Applications are available by calling the Chamber of Commerce at 979-743-4514 or at the Schulenburg Public Library. Applications must be submitted to the Chamber office by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18.

Referrals Being Accepted for Gifted/Talented Program at SISD 

Schulenburg ISD is planning for the Gifted/Talented program and accepting referrals for students in grades 1-5 who may need services. This program is designed for students who exhibit intellectual and creative thinking abilities at an extraordinary level not normally served in the regular classroom. Services are provided only upon identification of educational needs of the student.

The form must be returned to SISD by Friday, March 20. Nomination/ referral forms are available at each campus office and online through the school’s website at www.schulenburgisd.net.

Community Good Friday Service

The community Good Friday service hosted by the Schulenburg Ministerial Alliance will be held at United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Swiss Alp, on April 3 at noon. A meal with Connie Koopmann’s chicken spaghetti will follow at 1 p.m. Pastor J.P. Kessie of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church will preach. United Evangelical Lutheran Church is located at 2038 FM 3171 off Highway 77 north of Schulenburg.
