Douglas Wayne “Butch” Baca passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026 in Burkburnett.
The family received friends on Monday, April 6, 2026 at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett. Funeral services followed at 2 p.m. with Rev. Cliff Cooper officiating. Interment followed at Burkburnett Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett.
Butch was born on July 25,1938 in Schulenburg. He was one of eight children born to Adolph Joseph and Hattie Ann (Berger) Baca. After Butch graduated, he went to work for a seismograph company. Butch met Mary Joyce (Joy) Woods, the love of his life, while based in Quitaque, Texas when he stopped to cash his check at the bank where Joy worked. They were married on May 31, 1958 in Schulenburg. They had two daughters, Kimberly Jean and Sandra Kay. Butch worked for BNSF Railroad until he retired as Roadmaster. Butch and Joy retired to Amon G Carter Lake in Bowie. They were members of Carter Lake Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Burkburnett. Butch enjoyed playing golf, building things at the lake, and taking care of his yard. He especially loved spending time with his family and was always there for them.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joy; parents, Adolph and Hattie Baca; sisters, Geraldine Baca, Marzaline Kunz and Hellen Mauldin; and brothers, AJ, Carlton and Emmanuel.
He is survived by his daughters, Kim Horn and husband Matt of Burkburnett, and Kay Sitgreaves and husband Andy of Huffman; his grandchildren, Kandy Jenks and husband Chris of Humble, Drew Sitgreaves and wife Kim of Huffman, Heather Mann and husband Rob of Prosper, Trey Horn and wife Kelsey of Burkburnett, and Jeff Sitgreaves and wife Nena of McKinney; and his great-grandchildren, Callen Jenks, Graham Sitgreaves, Cameron Jenks, Briggs Sitgreaves, Skylar Mann, Harper Sitgreaves, Tate Horn, Collins Horn and Anthony Sitgreaves. He is also survived by his sister, Bonnie Guettermann, and brother, Curtis Baca.
