Joyce Dittrich

Joyce was born on Aug. 27, 1952 in Weimar to Estanislado and Rita Segura. She was one of 12 children, raised in Schulenburg amongst her siblings. Joyce departed this world on Saturday, March 28, 2026.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Estanislado and Rita Delgado Segura; daughter, Sara Dittrich; sisters, Pat Christ, Annie Riojas and Stella Morin; and brothers, Henry Segura, Condido Segura, Felix Segura, Domingo Segura and Stanley Segura.

Joyce will be forever remembered and greatly missed by her husband, Leo “Buddy” Dittrich Jr.; daughter, Hannah Beth Dittrich; sisters, Hope Vornsand and Rosa Galipp; brother, Frank Segura; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Joyce attended Schulenburg ISD until she graduated in 1971. After graduation she worked locally, and continued to help her family at home. She loved to go to dances and spend time with family and friends. Freyburg Hall was one of her favorite go- to places. It was there in 1975 where she met the love of her life, Leo “Buddy” Dittrich Jr. They soon married May 8, 1976 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Four years later they welcomed home among family and friends a precious baby girl, Hannah Beth Dittrich. Joyce and Buddy remained in Schulenburg where they raised Hannah and continued their life together. She continued working in Schulenburg until she settled alongside Buddy at Lauren Concrete.

Joyce devoted her life to her family and friends, always reaching out to help others. She was an active member of the St. Anne’s Society of High Hill, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Joyce was very active in the church and community. She was also co-chairperson of the St. Mary’s High Hill annual picnic along side her husband for 11 years.

Services were held on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at St Mary’s Catholic Church in High Hill. Visitation began at 2 p.m. with the parish rosary recited by St. Anne’s and Catholic Daughters at 3 p.m., followed by American Legion Ladies Auxiliary memorial service and the funeral Mass at 3:30 p.m. Interment followed in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Flatonia.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s High Hill Restoration Fund or charity of one’s choice.
