Fayette County Farm Bureau Food Drive
The Fayette County Farm Bureau is holding a food drive through Thursday, April 30. Donations can be dropped off at the Farm Bureau Office, 411 East Colorado St., La Grange. The food and cash donations will be given to Fayette County food pantries after the conclusion of the program. In addition, a drawing will be held for three $200 Visa gift cards – one drawing entry will be given for donating five non-perishable items or $10 cash. There is no limit to the number of entries. Winners will be contacted on Tuesday, May 5.
St. James Missionary Baptist Church Fish Fry
St. James MBC will hold a building fundraiser fish fry on Friday, May 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with pickup at St. James MBC, 1103 James Ave. The $12 plates will include fried fish, two sides and dessert. To reserve plates, contact Rev. Andrew Stafford at 979-997-1207 or 210-475-1992.
Queen of the Holy Rosary Parish Mayfest at Hostyn
Queen of the Holy Rosary Church at Hostyn will hold its Mayfest on Sunday, May 3 on the parish grounds. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. outdoors under a tent. A barbecue pork/sausage dinner with trimmings will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. , with drive-thru plates-to-go from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cost will be $15 per plate. Texas Sound Check and Czechaholics will provide music. There will also be an auction (1 p.m.), bingo (1:30 to 5:30 p.m.), games, country store, silent auction, cake/plant wheels, balloon artist, jigsaw puzzle booth and drawings. A magic show will be held at 3 p.m. and hamburgers will be sold after 3 p.m.

American Legion Chicken Fried Steak Dinner
American Legion McBride Post 143 will serve a drive-thru-only chicken fried steak dinner on Wednesday, May 6 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Legion Home inWolters Park.The plates will include chicken fried steak, buttered potatoes, green beans with bacon, salad, gravy, dessert and dinner roll. Tickets ($15 each) are available at Schulenburg Printing, Schulenburg Sticker, Grahmann’sTrueValue, CrystalThreads, E&S Fashions or from any Legion member. Only a limited number of tickets will be available at the drive-thru. The Auxiliary will have bake sale items available for purchase.
Boys & Girls Clubs of Champion Valley Pot Roast Dinner
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Champion Valley will hold a drive-thru pot roast dinner onWednesday, May 6 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 615 South Eagle St., Weimar. The $15 plates will include pot roast, onion buttered potatoes, green beans, carrots and roll. Desserts will be available for a free-will donation.

Schulenburg 4-H Rack of Ribs Fundraiser
Tickets are on sale for the sixth annual rack of ribs fundraiser for the Schulenburg 4-H Club. Cost is $30 per rack, which serves 3-4 people.
Drive-thru pickup will be on Friday, May 8 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at City Market, which is preparing the ribs. Tickets (pre-sale only) can be purchased from any Schulenburg 4-H member or by contacting club manager Dawn Hoffmann at 361-772-5843.
Habitat ReStore Open Fridays, Saturdays in Schulenburg
The Fayette County Habitat for Humanity ReStore is open for sales and donation drop-offs every Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 825 North Main St. in Schulenburg.
The ReStore sells and accepts donations of gently used home goods, building materials and more to support Habitat’s mission.
Every sale helps fund Habitat’s work to provide safe, affordable housing in Fayette County. Items accepted include gently used or new household items, non-upholstered furniture, appliances, tools and home improvement supplies. All donations are tax-deductible.
Volunteers are also needed to assist with receiving donations, helping customers, organizing the store, etc.
