Friends of the Schulenburg Public Library’s Book Sale
Friends of the Schulenburg Public Library will hold the annual book sale from Thursday, May 7 through Friday, May 15 at the Schulenburg Public Library, 310 Simpson St., during regular library hours.
The book sale will include children’s, young readers, fiction, history, crafts and more.
Schulenburg 4-H Rack of Ribs Fundraiser
Tickets are on sale for the sixth annual rack of ribs fundraiser for the Schulenburg 4-H Club. Cost is $30 per rack, which serves 3-4 people.
Drive-thru pickup will be on Friday, May 8 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at City Market, which is preparing the ribs. Tickets (pre-sale only) can be purchased from any Schulenburg 4-H member or by contacting club manager Dawn Hoffmann at 361-772-5843.
KC’s Mother’s Day Barbecue Chicken Dinner, Blood Drive
The Knights of Columbus will hold their annual Mother’s Day barbecue chicken dinner on Sunday, May 10 at the Schulenburg Hall starting at 10:30 a.m. or when the food is ready. The drive-thru-only plates ($15 each) will include 1/2 chicken, buttered potatoes, pinto beans and pickle. The St. Rose Altar Society will also hold a bake sale.
In addition, the South Texas Blood Bank will hold a blood drive. Each donor will receive a free meal provided by the KCs. For more information, contact Ed Kusy at 979-743-5879.
Bluff SchuetzenFest at Kreische Brewery/Monument Hill
Kreische Brewery and Monument Hill State Historic Sites near La Grange will host Bluff SchuetzenFest on Saturday, May 16. The beer and heritage festival will feature special craft beer tastings, a morning 5K run, live music, family games and other fun activities. Weimar KCs Chicken Fried Steak Dinner
Weimar Knights of Columbus Council 2153 will serve a hand-battered chicken fried steak dinner on Sunday, May 17 from 10:30 a.m. until sold out at the St. Michael Family Center in Weimar. Cost is $15 each for the drive-thru-only plates.
