Martha Belle (Rypple) Mensik, 80, of League City, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2026.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026 at 1 p.m. at Emken-Linton Funeral Home in Texas City. Inurnment will be held on Friday, Oct. 2 at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church Cemetery at Ammannsville.
Born March 19, 1946 in Schulenburg, she was the daughter of George J. and Leona (Briscoe) Rypple. She was a proud 1964 graduate of Bishop Forest High School in Schulenburg and maintained many of the friendships made there up until her death. She met the love of her life at Bishop Forest High – she and Andrew “Red” Mensik were married 60 years on Sept. 10, 2026. Martha and Red made many memories together at neighborhood gatherings, family holidays and traveling. They also worked together for the last years of Red’s life at Red’s Hydraulic Service. She was a member of St. Mary of the Expectation Catholic Church and lived her faith daily. She enjoyed many lunches and card games with her great friends from church and card groups. Martha was a life member of the League City Evening Lions Club.
She is survived by goddaughter/niece Nan Boyd and husband Brad of Lytle; “son” Randy Rance and wife Dianna Jones of La Marque; several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces great-nephews and cousins; sister Debbie Sowell and husband Rick of San Antonio; sister-in-law Jan Rypple of Georgetown; sister-in-law Rose (Mensik) Thumann and husband Leon of Sheridan; and brother-in-law Leroy Mensik and wife Dollie of Katy.
Preceding her in death were husband on Aug. 20, 2008; parents; and brothers George Jean Rypple and Manual Rypple.
Memorials may be made to Texas Lions Camp, St. Mary of the Expectation Catholic Church of League City or a charity of one’s choice. Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home of Schulenburg is handling arrangements.
