Charlotte Ann Vacek, 71, the only daughter to Doris Gene Koehl-Grammier and Jimmie C. Mazoch, joined them in eternal rest on Friday, July 17, 2020 in Richmond.
She was born in Columbus on July 14, 1949. She graduated from Bellaire High School and got her degree in education from University of Houston. She went on to get her master’s degree in teaching from Prairie View A&M. She taught at Deaf Smith Elementary in Richmond for her entire career. She retired after 32 years with Lamar CISD. She was a life member with Laureate Degree in the Xi Phi Beta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi since 1977. She volunteered with them doing many community service projects in Richmond and Rosenberg. She enjoyed her monthly Bunko games, travel, and cooking.
She is survived by her husband, Leroy Vacek. They were married in Houston on Dec. 29, 1968. Then they moved to Richmond and built their home which they shared for almost 50 years. She is also survived by her two children and their families. Her daughter, LeAnn Vacek Bravo, son-in-law, Charlie Bravo, and grandson, Terrie Bravo are currently living overseas. Her son, Nic Vacek, daughter-in-law, Abby Vacek, and granddaughter, Riley Vacek live in Richmond. In 2002, Charlotte had a brain aneurysm that she survived and had 16 more years of life to give to her family. She was a loving, devoted daughter, mother, grandmother and teacher.
Private family services are planned. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Charlotte’s name toward the St. John’s Methodist Church and Deaf Smith partnership. This organization of retired teachers and volunteers gives to the school with teacher appreciation events and special activities for the Super Stars at Deaf Smith.
