DAILY CASES PER 100,000 POPULATION FOR FAYETTE COUNTY – Over a week-long span ending on Friday, June 4, Fayette County averaged one new, confirmed COVID-19 case per day (3.9 for every 100,000 residents). The chart begins in March 2020 and shows the spikes last July and September up to the high of 59 cases per 100,000 population in December and again approaching that level in January and February.
INFECTION RATE FOR FAYETTE COUNTY – From a high of nearly 1.4 last June, the county’s infection rate has fluctuated, as seen in the chart. Since mid-March, it dipped below 0.9. On average, as of Friday, June 4, each person in Fayette County was infecting 0.86 others. Because each person is infecting fewer than one other person, the total number of current cases is shrinking.
County’s COVID cases drop as vaccinations rise
Heading into the summer months, Fayette County Emergency Management Coordinator Craig Moreau gave an update on recent COVID-19 data, which shows a positive trend.
