William Roy “Willie” Meyer, 72, of Schulenburg, passed away Saturday, June 12 after a short illness.
He was born Dec. 16, 1948 in Schulenburg to Ferdinand and Ella (Blaschke) Meyer. He married Cynthia Malinek on June 10, 1972 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Moulton. They were married 49 years, and lived in Schulenburg their entire married life. William worked at Moulton Propane for 40 years and was proud of his job. He was a great guy, a hard worker, and loved by many. He enjoyed visiting friends and drinking coffee at Food Mart.He also enjoyed working in the yard. His pride and joy was his granddaughter, Bethany, and he loved his pet dog, Christi.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Meyer of Schulenburg; son, Billy Meyer of Leander; brothers, James Meyer of Schulenburg, and Harvey Meyer and wife Denise of Schulenburg; one granddaughter, Bethany Meyer; brother-in-law, Sidney Malinek and wife Teresa of Indianola; brother-inlaw, Johnny Koopmann of La Grange; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 15, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Visitation began at 9:30 a.m. at the church, with the parish rosary recited at 10:30 a.m. Burial was in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery. Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
