Andre Marie Kainer, 81, of Weimar, passed away on Wednesday evening, March 16, 2022, at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Katy.
Andre was born on Nov. 19, 1940 to Martha and Robert Mendel of St. John. She attended St. John School and later graduated from Schulenburg High School in 1959. She married Leroy Kainer of Schulenburg on Oct. 6, 1962. Leroy got drafted to the army in September 1963 and together they moved to Fort Bragg in North Carolina. They eventually moved back to Weimar and together they had three children, Michael, Gary and Jennifer. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar and Catholic Daughters of America.
Her primary job was wife and mother. As her children grew, she started to work outside of the home at various jobs, Winn’s Five & Dime and Weimar Independent School District. She eventually ran a daycare in her home for 20 years and was able to provide a nurturing and caring environment for over 40 children with whom she continued to keep in touch. They referred to her as KK. She enjoyed scrapbooking, sewing and quilting. Her five grandchildren brought tremendous joy to her life. She proudly encouraged and supported them through all their youth activities and into their college careers where they graduated from or are currently attending Texas A&M University.
She was a resident of Regency Nursing Center for six years where she enjoyed spending her time on Facebook keeping up with her friends and family. Her generosity, humor and smile will be greatly missed by her family!
She is survived by her son and daughter in-law, Gary and Sherry Kainer of Tomball; her daughter and son in-law, Jennifer and Franklin (Danny) Muesse of Katy; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leroy, infant son Michael and sister Gladys.
Visitation was held Sunday, March 20, 2022, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Weimar, followed by the parish rosary at 1:30 p.m. The funeral Mass was at 2 p.m. and interment followed at the St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Weimar. Pallbearers were grandchildren Cody, Brady and Gentry Kainer, Blake Muesse and nephews Brian and Darrell Chaloupka.
