Barbara Ulrich Kallus of Spring passed away on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 8 p.m. at age 89 years, 4 months, 13 days.
The funeral was held on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Spring, with Rev. Charles J. Samperi, pastor, officiating. Interment took place in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery at High Hill, where Rev. Felix Twumasi officiated. Pallbearers were Steve Ulrich, nephew; Nathan Vrazel, nephew; Shay Ulrich, great-nephew; and Delvin Dieringer, friend. Named as honorary pallbearers were Elmer Ulrich, brother; Greg Ulrich, Keith Ulrich and Scott Ulrich, nephews; and Judson Ulrich, great-nephew.
Rosary was recited on Wednesday, July 28 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at the church, led by Catholic Daughters Court 1750.
Born on March 10, 1932 at Freyburg, she was the daughter of Adolph Sr. and Wilhelmina (Olbort) Ulrich. She attended Abbott’s Grove Elementary School and had to walk 2½ miles through pastures and fields to get to school. She then attended Flatonia High School, graduating in 1949. Afterward, she moved to Houston and went to work at Great Southern Life Insurance, where she was employed for 37 years. After retiring from Great Southern Life Insurance, she worked in the real estate business for a number of years. She was a member of the Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters Court 1750 for 60 years, and Catholic Life Insurance.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda Kallus of Spring; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Ulrich of Alexandria, La. and Elizabeth Ulrich of Schulenburg; a brother, Elmer Ulrich and wife Arline of Schulenburg; and one niece and five nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Adolph Sr. and Wilhelmina Ulrich; and three brothers, Adolph Ulrich Jr., Clarence Ulrich and Delphin Ulrich.
Heights Funeral Home of Houston was in charge of arrangements.
