Carolyn “Tootie” Steinmann Hunter, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 7, 2024.
She was born on Aug. 7, 1930 in DeWitt County to Edwin and Erna Steinmann. She was the assistant manager at the Continental Airlines Credit Union for 24 years, and before that a housewife. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Weimar. She was serious about crocheting sweaters and afghans. She also enjoyed sewing and even upholstering furniture. Outdoors she enjoyed working in her flowerbeds, along with hunting and fishing with family and friends.
Survivors include her son, Dan Hunter (Robert Plaster) of Hallettsville; daughter, Jeanette Hunter Wild of Hallettsville; grandchildren, Jeanette Joy Harris (Scott Finkler) of Houston, Julie Ann Smith (Adam Smith) of Spring, Hunter Wild (Mariah) of Hutto, and Brandon Wild of Austin; greatgrandchildren, Adalie Smith, Anna Smith and Alexandra Smith; and sisters, Joyce Lassig (Billy Lassig) of Lyford and Barbara Otto of Shiner.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Sandra Bea Harris and son-in-law Walter Harris Jr.; sisters, Delta Muenich, Velma Matthew and Thelma Stockton; and brothers, Leonard Steinmann, Wilmon Steinmann and Tilford Steinmann.
Visitation was held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2024 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home in Yoakum. Funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, 2024 at Thiele-Cooper Funeral Home, with Pastor Herb Beyer officiating. Burial was at Pilot Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hunter Wild, Brandon Wild, Adam Smith, Dennis Stockton, Jerrel Hunter, Daryl Lassig and Kelly Lassig. Honorary pallbearer was Mike Lassig.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Weimar, or Hospice of South Texas.
