Cecil “Sonny” Adams, age 95 years, 11 months, 30 days, passed away at Schulenburg Regency Nursing Center on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at 3 a.m.

Visitation was held at Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 from 5 to 7 p.m. Burial was held at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Del Rio on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at 1 p.m. Juan Osorio from Del Rio held the gravesite service. Pallbearers were Tim Baxter, Lane Baxter, Robert Gurnea and Clif Cavendar.

Born in San Angelo on July 20, 1924, he was the son of Bill and Marie (Goodall) Adams. He attended Martzon grade school and high school. He served in the Army Air Corps and then went to a junior college in San Angelo from 1946-47. After his marriage to Bettie Jo Baxter on July 6, 1947 at First Baptist Church in Balinger, they moved to Kingsville where he attended Texas A&I University and graduated with a BA degree in accounting. In 1950, they moved to Del Rio where he started his accounting firm. In 1998, they moved to Schulenburg to be closer to family. He loved his church and playing golf. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Schulenburg and was also a member of the Lions Club.

Survivors include two sons, C.T. “Tommy” Adams Jr. and wife Tootsie of Schulenburg, and Gary Adams and wife Gayle of Elizabeth, Colo.; one granddaughter, Tiffany Adams of Castle, Colo.; four great-grandchildren, Carman, Dillon, Tylar and Jaylee Adams of Littleton, Colo.; one great-great-granddaughter; a sister-in-law, Betty Baxter of Corpus Christi; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two step-daughters, Linda Morgan and husband Rick of Schulenburg, and Beth Alser and husband James of Newport Beach, Calif.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a brother, Buster Adams; a grandson, Danny Adams; his wife of 62 years, Bettie Joe Baxter Adams; and wife, Bethel Gwendolyn Wendenburg Adams.
