Clinton Dennis Ulbig of the Oakland/ Hackberry community passed away on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023 at the age of 81.

Clinton was born on Aug.24, 1942 to Joe and Amanda Wick Ulbig in Lavaca County. He grew up on his parent’s dairy farm and helped with farm work. He graduated from Weimar High School in 1960 and joined the United States Air Force, along with his brother, Joe. His military career took him abroad to Morocco and he was later stationed in Minot, North Dakota. Clinton often talked about his military travels and being able to see other parts of the world and the United States.

After his discharge from the military, Clinton returned to Texas. He worked as a welder for several businesses and later found joy being a rancher and doing welding at his property. He enjoyed his animals and being outside.

On June 20, 1983. Clinton married Mildred Barcak. They enjoyed working side by side on their property and being together.

Clinton is survived by his wife, Mildred; his brother, Joe Ulbig (Diana); nephew, Jimmy Ulbig (Shannon); several great-nieces and great-nephews; and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Clinton will be missed by his family and friends. They write: “Rest in peace Clinton; you are now free from your earthly pains.

Services will be held at St. Rose of LIma Catholic Church in Schulenburg on Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. The family will receive friends beginning at 9 a.m. and the parish rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Entombment will follow in the St. Rose Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Jimmy Ulbig, Kyle Ulbig, Leroy Etzler Jr., Travis Etzler, Rodney Barcak and Dave Zambie.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of South Texas, St. Rose Catholic Church or a charity of one’s choice.
