Earlene C. O’Brien

Earlene C. O’Brien passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021 at 4:30 p.m. at Schulenburg Regency Nursing Center at age 87.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Dec. 20, 2021 at 10 a.m. at the Praha Catholic Church at 10 a.m., followed by interment in the church cemetery. Officiating were Fr. Dalton Ervin, great-great-nephew, and Fr. Gabriel Maison, pastor.

Pallbearers were Jay Pavlicek, Robert Hoot, James Mazoch and Chris Proske, nephews; Ryder Ervin, great-nephew; and David Pesl, dear friend. Named as honorary pallbearers were Delphin Muenster and Joe J. Kurtz IV, both nephews.

Rosary was said on Dec. 20 at 9:30 a.m. at the church, led by Kenneth Miksch.

Born on March 15, 1934 at the family home in Fayette County, she was the daughter of Ignac J. Sr. and Vlasta (Urbis) Pavlicek. She attended Schulenburg High School. On June 26, 1961, she married Richard D. O’Brien of Bloomington, Illinois, at the Praha Catholic Church. She lived in Fayette County for 25-plus years and was a housewife.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Margaret Pavlicek; and a brother-in-law, Dennis F. O’Brien. Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Edwin “Papoose” Pavlicek and I.J. Pavlicek Jr.; and three sisters and brothers-in-law, Agatha and Fred Zapalac, Della and Joe J. Kurtz III, and Georgie Mae and Jerry Havel.

Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
