Ericsson ‘Eric’ Cullen

Ericsson (Eric) Cullen 52, of Freyburg, passed away on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 in Austin.

Eric was born July 11, 1970 in Austin and graduated from Tomball High School in 1989. He was a volunteer firefighter in Tomball after graduating from high school. Eric was later hired on with the Conroe Fire Department in 2001. He was also hired on with the Aldine and Magnolia fire departments, and had 30 years of volunteer and professional firefighting service. Eric also enjoyed riding bulls during his career as a firefighter. Later on in his life, Eric went to work in the oilfield business. Once the oil boom industry came to an end, Eric went to work at a large gravel pit operation as a heavy equipment operator. Soon after meeting his best friend/partner Lana and moving to Freyburg, Eric was employed by the City of Schulenburg as the superintendent for the water/wastewater departments. When not working, Eric and Lana enjoyed cooking crawfish for local parties and events and he was a master in making the best crawfish around.

Eric is survived by his best friend/partner Lana Warnken of Freyburg, mother Nancy Cullen of Tomball, father Larry Cullen of Magnolia, son Kelby Cullen and wife Kassi of Corsicana, daughters Erin and Emily Cullen of Iola, brother Chris Cullen and wife Jennifer of Rosenberg, one granddaughter Arabella Cullen of Corsicana, and a niece and nephew.

Eric is also survived by Lana’s family, Ryan Warnken of Dale, Jeanette Friedrich of Freyburg, Sharon Vrana and husband Bonaventure of Flatonia, Dwayne Friedrich and wife Carol of Freyburg, and nieces, nephews and grand-nephews.

Services for Eric will be held at a later date and he will truly be missed. “May you rest in peace and fly high!”
