Evelyn Meyer, 85, passed away at Schulenburg Regency Nursing Center on Friday, June 26, 2026.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Fr. Luke Prihoda officiating. Inurnment will be private in St. Rose Catholic Cemetery. Rosary will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 10 a.m. at the church.
Born on Aug. 21, 1940, she was the daughter of Henry and Vlasta (Valicek) Matura. She married Tommy Meyer on Nov. 23, 1961. She lived in Dubina and Schulenburg all her life, and worked as a nurse. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters and St. Rose Altar Society.
Survivors include three daughters, Geraldine Meyer, Jackie Meyer and Shanna Winkler and husband Ronnie; a son, Thomas Meyer and wife Virginia; a sister, Gladys Machicek; four grandchildren, Ty Winkler and wife Samantha, Allison Childs and husband Cody, Shae Winkler and Blake Meyer; and two great-grandchildren, Cade Childs and Troy Winkler.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Henry and Vlasta Matura; husband, Tommy Meyer; three brothers, Eugene, Erwin and Ernest Matura; and a sister, Edith Hartensteiner.
Memorial contributions may be made to Schulenburg Regency Activity Fund or a charity of one’s choice.
