George Frank Munoz

George Frank Munoz passed away at his home in Engle on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021 at the age of 72 years.

George was born on April 23, 1949 in Flatonia to Frank and Dominga (Delgado) Munoz Jr. George attended Flatonia Public School. He served his country proudly in the United States Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. George married the love of his life, Alma Louise Garza of Sheridan, on Dec. 18, 1971 in Hallettsville. George and Alma were blessed with one son, Carlos Munoz. George, Alma and their son moved to and lived in Wharton, where George worked at a turf grass farm until his retirement in 2011. At that time, they moved back to Engle.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, with Fr. Scott Hill officiating at Mass at 10:30 a.m. Visitation began at 9 a.m., with the rosary at 10 a.m. Interment was at Cheetham Cemetery in Sheridan, where he was laid to rest next to the love of his life, his wife Alma Louise Munoz . The Schulenburg American Legion presented Goerge’s son Carlos with an American flag at the church and the Vietnam Veterans of America presented Carlos with a memorial flag and plaque for the gravesite at the cemetery in honor of his service to this country. Pallbearers were his nephews, Arthur Hernandez, David Brown Sr., Michael Munoz, Lorenso Munoz II, Lorenso Munoz III and his niece Payton Brooke Garza.

George is survived by his son, Carlos Munoz of Wharton; his sisters, Adela Luksovsky and husband Jimmie of Schulenburg, and Frances Zunker and husband Stephen of San Antonio; and one brother, Lorenso Munoz of Leander. He is survived by three nephews and two nieces along with his brother-in-law Paul Anthony Garza and his niece Payton Brooke Garza of Austin. He is also survived by his two fur friends, Chico and Charlie.

George was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Alma.
