George I. Janecka

George I. Janecka passed away on Wednesday, April 20 at 8:30 a.m. at The Bradford Memory Care in Humble at the age of 88 years, 1 month, 19 days.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 2, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Dubina, with Fr. Wayne Wilkerson officiating. Interment will take place in the church cemetery. Named as pallbearers are nephews Greg Janecka of Houston, Robert Janecka of San Antonio, Joe Janecka of Dubina and Charlie Janecka of Houston.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2022 from 5 to 6 p.m. at Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home. Rosary will be said on Sunday, May 1 at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, led by the Knights of Columbus.

Born on March 1, 1934 at Dubina, he was the son of Charles and Lucie (Herzik) Janecka. From 1955-57, he served in the Army, stationed in Germany, and from 1957-62, he served in the Air Force Reserves, stationed at Ellington Air Base in Houston. On June 25, 1966, he married Ronnie Martin at Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Houston. He worked in the oil patch industry for over 40 years, He was a member of the Catholic Church as well as the Texas Czech Heritage Society, Polka Lovers dance club, Knights of Columbus and American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Ronnie Janecka of Humble; three daughters, Veronica Zemlicka of Houston, Sabrina Janecka of Houston and Melissa Schadler and husband Robert of Chandler, Ariz.; two sisters, Lilly Hilscher and husband Harlan of High Hill, and Dorothy Berger and husband Vernon of Houston; two brothers, Jerry Janecka and wife Ann of San Antonio, and Ed Janecka and wife Margie of Dubina; and four grandchildren, Ethan Schadler, Hunter Schadler, Christopher Zemlicka and Brianna Zemlicka.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Charlie and Lucie Janecka; and a brother, Charles Janecka.

Schwenke-Baumgarten Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
