Gertrude Janak, 85, of Hallettsville, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2021.

The funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hallettsville, with Msgr. John Peters officiating. Interment took place in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Hallettsville. Pallbearers were nephews Paul Hanslik, Michael Till, John Barton, Michael Hanslik and Robert Pustka, and longtime friend Ronnie Huser.

Born on Nov. 29, 1935 in Hallettsville, she was the daughter of Julius Grahmann and Helen (Woitaske) Grahmann. She married Eugene Janak on Oct.1, 1960 in Hallettsville. She lived in Schulenburg for many years before retiring to Hallettsville. She worked at Galipp’s grocery story and the Schulenburg school cafeteria. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Hallettsville, Christian Mothers and KJZT.

Trudy is survived by her husband, Eugene; two sons, Russell Janak of Belton, and Bradley Janak and wife Theresa of Sweet Home; daughter, Kay Teeple and husband Micha of Colorado Springs, Colo.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Andrew J. Grahmann of Houston; a sister, Mary Bruening of Shelby; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Trudy was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, David J. Grahmann; and five sisters, Viola Grahmann, Frances Hanslik, Irene Barton, Virginia Pustka and Thelma Spies.

Kubena Funeral Home of Hallettsville was in charge of arrangements.
